José Carioca's Cigar by Calico

José Carioca's Cigar

Calico

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar... but not this time!

I sculpted a prop cigar for my José Carioca Disneybound, because he is one of the best Disney characters ever.

The body of the cigar is sculpy. The ash is solid hot glue molded in tin foil and painted with several layers of acrylics. The two pieces screw together with the threaded neck and cap of a water bottle. The neck was set into the hot glue while it was cooling and the cap is within the body of the cigar.

Inside is a small programmable LED set to pulse slowly between red and orange.

It may not look like much, but this took about three months of work. The body of the cigar took three tries, while the ash took about 20+ tries to cast properly and twice to paint properly.

The gloves were also hand-dyed by me.

Let me know what you think!
