A commission for my long-time friend Sary, whom has always had unique and interesting dragon and gryphon character designs. This particular one takes influences from vipers, crested gecko, and even tarantulas, in the form of the fuzzy mane at the base of the neck.
Being a somewhat shy and reclusive dragon who is drawn towards shiny objects of interest, I painted him exploring his local environment with a more outgoing magpie friend. I also took the opportunity of this piece to experiment with a palette I had been wanting to play with for a while-- using reds, yellows, and teals to paint a forest without using traditional greens.
Thank you again, Sary!
