Anticipation by Caelan (critique requested)

Anticipation (critique requested)

Caelan

I started this painting at last year's IMC, but only did my final touch ups a few months ago after some additional critique. Though I'd dabbled in the medium before, this was my first complete illustration done in oil! It was a big leap for me to do so, and I'm still learning so much about what methods do or don't work for me-- but I'm looking forward to doing a lot more traditional work this year, and this serves as a reminder that when I get into the zone with it, I can pull off traditional painting.

Also, thank you to fellow IMC student Rovina Cai for modeling for me-- you guys, her art is ethereal and captivating, and you should go check it out.

The original is available for sale. Its 16" x 20" on cradled wood panel. I don't have it up on my website yet, so email me for info.

WOW! Amazing! Great lighting and angle. My only critique is that the legs look a bit off tome, could just bne the angle or something I can't point to directly. I am not a fan of oils, much prefer acrylics, but this is wonderful work no matter the media.

Incredible work!! The way you render faces/facial expressions always looks so natural.
