I think I've seen these. I thought one was a humming bird, but it's wings weren't flapping fast enough and had that curled tube-mouth. had the coloration of a bee and I think it tried to attack me when I got close. Glad I know what I saw now!

Beautiful! I love all the little fluffy bits. I have some fond memories of trying to catch these guys when they'd visit the autumn olive bushes flowering near my childhood home.
