Summary of Art 2017

BusinessWolf

ITS FINALLY THE 31ST, I CAN POST THIS! I wanted to post it on the last day of 2017. I'm going to give a little background into why I picked each piece for this summary, because there were some I thought were technically better, but these had more of a personal connection.

January: I remember Sparta and Namiin complimenting my colored lines and the lighting on this one, it was a Level Up of sorts and a great, fun start to the year.

February: I was really proud of the lighting on this one especially. And it features my friendo Kee's blind date character to mine. First time I did something like that, and it's been fun ever since.

March: This was another piece that I had a great deal of fun with. Sierra commissioned me for their Kitsune character, so I drew them meditating in a zen garden type location. The background features less here, but I did try quite a few new things with it.

April: My first zine piece for the Genyatta fanzine. This was a fun challenge, and the first picture I've had published in a book. I'm proud to have been selected with so many other talented artists.

May: My first J-Doodle for Steve Argyle's Sketch N Skotch stream. I'll never forget meeting such an amazing artist, through playing Overwatch of all things. Since then, I've attended as many of his streams as possible, and learned more than I could have hoped to know. Steve and his wife Kat are both amazing people, and I'm glad to be part of their lives each Wednesday evening. (Even if I can't also share the post stream cookies)

June: This was a huge month for me. This piece along with four others were featured in AnthroCon's Art Show. Three of them, including this tiger, sold, and I was absolutely thrilled. My dear friend Sparta is actually the owner of this bleppy kitto. I also donated a special piece to the Charity Auction, and I know it went to another appreciative home.

July: I've been blessed with being able to draw Sierra's lovely monster boyo Vullux a few times so far, but this one.... took the cake for me. :3 Sorry, I had to. I love this lovely monster and his adorable themed bakery.

August: This was a month of self discovery for me. I tapped into some feelings and ideas I'd kind of set aside, and I treated myself a little. Mask, Captain, and Ruckus here all helped me express myself in a new and different way. Ruckus is personally my favorite of the trio design wise. Hopefully I'll be drawing him again soon.

September: I LOVE AUTUMN, so I drew my character enjoying Autumn. In looking through all my pieces for this review, I realized I didn't draw my character very much this year, aside from his reference very early on in January. Hopefully next year I will be giving my child some more love.

October: While I didn't complete Inktober as planned, bit off more than I could chew, I did so some pictures with my inks and markers. This one is a personal favorite of the group. I'd really like to continue this trend and have more traditional pieces like this make my Summary of Art for next year.

November: Animal Crossing Pocket Camp was released, and boy was I excited. I haven't felt like this about a game in a very long time. I have enjoyed it each day since its release. This picture is part of a commission series I did for those who were equally excited and wanted to show off their characters and their Pocket Camp Codes. This little griffin happens to be my favorite of the bunch. Cute character, pleasant colors, and very interesting adapting them to the game's style.

December: At long last, we get to my most involved piece of the year. This was the first time I'd ever attempted a digital painting. It took me a week to render, I tried new techniques and layer modes, and generally experimented with it more than I had with any piece prior. It was a definite learning experience, and I'm actually really excited to try more in the future.

That's all folks!

Here's hoping for even more improvement in 2018.
