Beryl now held the fabled gold idol, which had the form of a considerably rotund figure, after she had made it to the heart of the temple. Legends of a curse associated with the idol had failed to deter her from pursuing it, and having now obtained it she felt a swelling sense of pride. She believed she would certainly be considered a big deal of an explorer now, and as she took a few steps away from the idol's pedestal she already felt like she had the gait of a much larger individual. It was then she noticed it was more than a mere feeling of increased self; after overcoming her initial shock, she started to regret any scepticism about curses she may have had before. This new state of hers certainly would not make getting out of the temple by going back over the rickety rope bridges and through the narrow tunnels any easier.
