Panda Painting by Bru Badger

Panda Painting

Bru Badger

You can perhaps tell that I don't do much traditional painting, but lately I've been thinking about doing it more often, so I recently got this 20cm x 20cm canvas. I already had some acrylic paint and a paintbrush from an art set I got a few years ago. I'd drawn on the canvas in pencil before painting to try and help myself. While I was basically going for a lineless look without it being particularly detailed here, I wonder if it'd have been a better idea to get a new brush for painting this, as the one I used here is quite old and seems prone to splitting. I'm not really sure how to feel about how this painting turned out, to be honest; I guess it didn't quite turn out how I'd hoped, but maybe it could be seen as being vaguely expressionist or something.

The two characters here, a giant panda and a red panda (it may seem like there's some sort of overlap here), first appeared in a drawing I made a few months ago in which I kind of imagined them as one-offs at the time, but I decided to make more artwork of them. I thought these two could be good for experimenting in different media with.
