MYO Canterwit Contest Entry: Shika by Bri Mercedes

MYO Canterwit Contest Entry: Shika

Bri Mercedes

I gotta say, the Canterwits are one of the only species I've ever really had a desire to own. I've been drawing creature mashups involving flowers and deer forever, but I very much admire how solid the Canterwit species is. A lot of thought went into producing it.

Shika (Japanese for "deer"- totally original, right? But it's a cute name!)
Flower: Japanese Cherry Blossom/Sakura
Facial marking: Snip/Freckles
Body marking: Full Fawn
Tail: Elegant Flow
Antlers: Narrow
Ears: Standard

Shika is a very sweet, cheerful Canterwit who has a strong desire to learn about the physical and spiritual worlds around her and will seek out all sides of every story she hears. Though sensitive to saddening or unjust situations, she will handle them with grace and clarity. Shika treats her environment and the creatures that inhabit it with utmost respect. She won't turn down an opportunity to have fun, however: on a breezy spring day, Shika can be found (with a sharp eye) frolicking among the falling petals in a grove of blooming cherry trees. She is friendly towards humans and, if asked politely, will gladly exchange one of her flowers for a story.

The cherry blossoms are very special to me. My husband and I have a tradition of going down to DC every year for the cherry blossom festival. He proposed to me in the grove of century-old trees after a picnic lunch in March 2012.
