ORCS

Orcs are large extremely humanoid creatures that live all across the land. They usually have beautiful slanted eyes, which completely oppose the rest of their gruff appearance. They have a downward turned nose that often resembles a cat’s, some orcs even have a snout just like cat’s.

Their ears are pointy and somewhat big, and their skin is dark and often tanned. They have tusks that are usually a few inches long. Their mouth appears normal when they talk, but can stretch widely open – they still have the natural ability to rip creatures apart with their jaws, even though the civil orcs haven’t done that in centuries.

They have an extremely hard and thick skin that’s hard to penetrate.

All orcs can speak, but they can also growl and, most notably, roar so loud that they can be heard from kilometres away.

When speaking of orcs of the I’ll-bloody-name-it-later land, one can’t focus on a single definition. The type of the orc’s lifestyle across the land varies very quickly, as even two neighbouring tribes can have completely different ways of life.

The story focuses mostly on the commonly named Gryphian battle orcs, which are the progressive orcs from the last tribe that lives in the mountains before they turn into the plains of Gryphia. The tribe has been in an alliance with the kingdom of Gryphia for centuries, and has adapted a lot of the human culture, mostly clothing and armour, and several kinds of knowledge (such as smiting, some types of farming, etc).

They were originally a farming tribe, but after accepting to trade with humans, they quickly turned into a well-known battle tribe.

What most if not all orcs have in common is the lack of names; They only use first names and never give themselves last names, or name their villages or lands if they possess any.

The social order and gender roles change from tribe to tribe, but most orcish tribes tend to work very equally, but are very harsh when it comes to dealing with traitors or criminals.

Their way of survival differs depending on where they live, but most commonly the mountain orcs, usually large in posture, have a connection with nearby human villages and live in very human ways (though most of them are proud orcs), the desert orcs tend to avoid humans and are much smaller in figure. Forest orcs are the ones that tend to be the biggest, but also the most primitive and savage, often dangerous to humans, either attacking or avoiding them – much like bears.

However, none of this is exclusive as, again, orcish tribes differ greatly from one another.

Mountain orcs in general tend to be godless, with a strong sense of honour and pride. Battle orcs (orcs that are bred to be warriors) often tend to move to human cities to join the human military. Much like knights, they also keep very strong bonds with their family, and mourn their fallen relatives until the day they die, never completely getting over the pain of their loss.

Battle orcs make amazing unstoppable warriors, as they tend to go berserk once the war adrenaline gets to their heart, and completely disregard any wound that manages to get through their thick skin.
