MAGES aka MAGICIANS

Like knights, the ability needed for one to be a mage is handed down from one’s parents. Mages are people who posses higher levels of magic than knights do, and can be very powerful if they start practicing at a young age.

Basic powers that a mage possesses are the natural talent for potion making and calling upon a small light or a small flame in one’s hand. They can also pseudo-predict the future and read minds, but that requires higher skill.

Skilled mages are capable of summoning bigger fires and freezing smaller amounts of water, and also have a clearer shot in future- and mind-reading.

The latter two are never 100% accurate, as they are mostly obtained as some sort of a gut feeling that a mage receives. They never see a clear image of what is about to happen.

In general, a mage’s powers are more often than not used as passive help in a combat. They are usually called into war to help with strategies, as their physical powers (fire, light and ice) are far too weak to be used for anything but personal help (using fire to light up cigarettes, light to read in the dark and ice to cool their drinks...)

Like with knights, only one magical parent is enough to produce a mage child, in fact, the mage families with only one magical parent are far more common than the ones with two. It is believed that two mages are naturally not attracted to each other. Mage children are rarer to be born to non-magical parents than knight children, but it has already happened a few times.

Unlike knights, mages tend to be more eager to get out from under their parent’s wing. It’s not unusual for a mage in their late teens to tag along on a knight’s journey.
