The Drive Inside (CaptnFanta)

BlueKittyTales

August 20th 2013

Just as his father Terry had done a long time before, Todd had always wanted to go out into the world and enforce the law after what had happened to his mother Maria when he was a young cub. He remembered the days when she had run a laundrette service in the outskirts of a town named Caesia, which had served as the main grounds of conflict between the Yakuza organisation and the Cartel based in nearby Smokestacks. While other organisations had also got involved, the various illicit trades had been dominated by these two, and their war had dated back two decades.

In 2001, Maria’s business suffered several robberies, so she had paid for protection from the Yakuza. However, she had found it difficult to keep up with their demands, resulting in one of their shateis being sent to collect the money on missing a payment. While the Yakuza member had at first been willing to give her slightly more time to get the money together, she had made the mistake of uttering an insult as she retreated. The shatei had snapped and brutally attacked her, beating her into unconsciousness using the hilt of her sword until one of her subordinates called her off.

The damage was done. Although Maria survived the attack, she spent several weeks in hospital and had lost her left eye, which she now kept covered with a patch at all times. She had also sunk into a deep depression upon learning that the Yakuza had had Caesia’s main police department in their pockets, and had been able to bribe their way out of any trouble for this incident. She was frightened to leave her home, leading to Terry enlisting a member of his family to run the business while she recovered. Her laundrette was still going now, but she had relocated it to Borna City when the family moved there in 2004.

All Todd knew about the attacker was that she had been a then teenage skunk who was a Yakuza member. He had no idea who she was, where she was, if she was still a Yakuza member, or even if she was still alive. He couldn’t even ascribe a name to her. He wasn’t even sure if the war between the criminal organisations was still going, for he hadn’t been back to Caesia in years. If he ever met this skunk, he doubted he would recognise her.

What he did know was that he’d wanted to prevent anything like this from happening again, especially to members of his family. He’d lived in two communities in his lifetime, fearing the first one and finding himself forming a strong bond with the second. What he wanted was to help his father achieve the goal he’d set out for himself. Once he was old enough to join the police force in Borna City, he enthusiastically signed up, putting everything he had into the intense training and studying law whenever he had time on his paws.

Soon, the path in his life would be lain out, along which lay his destiny. And it wasn’t long before he started to develop a particular ability with dealing with assaults.

First introduced in the final chapter of a story that will remain exclusive to my FA account, I present a character I bought a few months ago from a user who has chosen to remain anonymous, Police Constable Todd Bennett, nicknamed Spark by his peers due to his quick wit. Another addition to my lineup of blue kitties as shown by this rendition made by CaptnFanta, this leopard looks to make his name as a member of the police force in Ramsdell, Borna City, South Triston. High expectations are abound, and Todd won’t rest until he meets them. :3
