“Aw, you don’t have to do that, Arrow.” smiled Elizabeth, sipping from the mug of hot chocolate the canine handed her. “You’ve done enough as it is.”

“It’s alright, my lady.” said Arrow, his large nose rubbing on her shoulder. “You’ll freeze if you go back out there.” It was then that Elizabeth noticed the sheet he held in his hand paws.

“Is this what you do while you’re waiting for your new mattress to arrive?” grinned Elizabeth as he wrapped the sheet over her shoulders. Arrow chuckled at the idea.

“Aw, don’t be so silly! I’m not that type of guy.” he said, unable to hide a wide smile. “You were shivering out there, and even my fire hasn’t been enough to heat you up.”

“How much firewood have you got left?”

“Plenty. I’ve got enough in the back garden to last us for another week.” He was quite correct, of course. He gestured to the large pile of kindling he kept inside the snow covered shed in the garden, and Elizabeth could see through its windows a pile of kindling stacked almost to the height of where their heads would have been. And the snow was still pouring down outside, even though it had already come up to three feet. She found herself wishing that she could have seen this amount of snow on Christmas Day, rather than icy cold rain and having to spend it operating on a patient who could not urinate at all. The warmth of Arrow’s company helped too, but nothing quite compared to being close to the warm fire.

“Yeah, we might need it.” said Elizabeth. “It’s like a Swedish winter out there.”

“You’ve been to Sweden?”

“No. But I once had to sew a rally car driver’s insides back together when he crashed his car. He said when he woke up that he got to Sweden and he had to drive around courses at – get this – -40C.”

“Damn. That is cold!” exclaimed Arrow. “Makes me glad we’re not having to brave the outside.”

“Yeah – now we’re having to brave the inside.” smirked Elizabeth, poking her tongue out at him.

Now here’s a scene brought to life by Arrow~Farfetch, with his caninus character Arrow helping to keep Jinx warm. Took a while to think of a story for this one, all things considered, and this is actually the second draft, after not being satisfied with the mood of the first one. ^^;
