This poem was inspired by Trivium's 2003 song When All Light Dies and Suffocation's 1995 track Depths of Depravity, and describes the plight of a prisoner kept in confinement with someone he once called a friend striking down the blows. Then one day, upon getting a sight of the world he's been denied for so long, something inside snaps.
