River-dewlling herbivores of temperate mainlands, Fujuna are able to spend lengthy time on land compared to their larger cousins due to migrating aquatic predators driving them on land seasonally. On land they then take to nearby soft grasses of floodplains. Fujuna can live in groups up to 30 individuals, and have a vast vocal repertoire in communicate with. In the river, the sharp, hard ridge at the end of their face is used to cut stubborn underwater foliage when necessary, and likewise the plating on their face protects their eyes and overhangs their nostrils, which can completely close when submerging. Similarly, the plating on their limbs protect against underwater rocks and debris flowing downstream. Webbed toes aid in swimming in addition to their sturdy claws for gripping slick underwater surfaces. Social and able to read tides and water currents with grace, Fujuna typically reach 4 feet at the top of the shoulder, however do not make the best pack animals; only able to manage twenty or so pounds more than their own weight. For the comfort of the creature, it would be best to only seek out Fujuna as a companion if water-based travel is going to be a respectable majority.
