A creative freedom project that I had a total ball with. (The customer just said it couldn't be super-feminine, and had to be a bat, and otherwise I could go nuts.) I've always liked leaf-nosed bat, so I just made this little guy's leaf a bit more literal.
Leaf bats, also known as moss bats, are native to the pacific northwest, where they use their coloration to blend in with mossy trees. Unusually for bats they are ambush predators, jumping out from tree branches on passing moths and other insects. They complete with the pacific tree octopus for suitable tree homes.
