Adventures in building a muse (take 1)

Whether all of you caught it or not, I decided I wanted to start drawing a definitive character that represents all that good stuff from my childhood that helps me to draw today...a muse if you will. A "Gazoo" type-thing that pops up on my shoulder from time to time that helps me work. Like some kind of shoulder angel/devil whatever. All I know is that an idea for a muse has been kicking around in my head for a long time but never really tackled the concept until now.

After tinkering with shapes I decided I likes me some rounded edges and triangles. :) No hair tufts, no bells n whistles... for a critter with goofy features he's remarkably fun and relaxed to draw, which is what I was aiming for.

As I kid I was nuts about long tails and rabbits. This guy is kindof a mish-mash of rabbits, jerboahs, gophers, otters, rats...I dunno he's a bunch of stuff. He's a mammal, he didn't hatch from an egg lol

Obviously established he's a boy, not a girl as I thought he was for a while. I just let the pen do the work and before I knew it he was taking shape and there was no stopping him.

He's small, like the size of a cat small.

He's got the ability to poof-vanish and float slowly back into view like a Cheshire cat...sorta? He's "imaginary" or "fictitious" technically speaking that goes without saying.

He's confident, and he's that little voice in the back of my mind that says "What are you waiting for? We don't have all day you know!" He loves adventure, science, he's fascinated in EVERYTHING. Everything has a story or explanation behind it and he wants to know it all. He's a full-grown adult character living an innocent life. He is not meant for adult activities or suggestive material....he's pretty straight-edge and innocent but not a push-over or gullible or pathetic, just clean and has no interest in adult things.

He still doesn't have a name. The goggles may or may not stay, they just felt right at the time. Still not 100% on his colors either. All I know is that his fur is short, the top of his head is too narrow for a hair-tuft and the way I draw wouldn't permit such a thing, his colors are odd but not bright...like I purple-tinted black cat (I liked some of the purples I him in sketched in), and his name is something like Binks, or Linus, or something else somewhat whimsical.

Anywho pert one of this adventure in designing a whole new character, I see alot I like and alot that's still pretty lucid and subject to change.
