Towel Hadvar by Bellumsaur

Towel Hadvar

Bellumsaur

Couldn't think of a better title...

Well, moving away from nuclear warfare and city destruction, here's something much lighter in tone: that being a simple shot of Hadvar with a towel on a Puget Sound beach. It was inspired by seeing a number of beefcake Anthro artworks both here on DA and FA and wanting to try my own hand at it; I certainly want to experiment more with male anatomy (since I've mainly drawn female characters up to this point) considering I want to do stories centered around WW1, WW2, and 60s-era soldiers. I originally wanted to make it full-body to show off his muscular physique but I couldn't quite figure out the pose and none of the stock photos I looked up were really what I had in mind to reference. So, instead I just went with him holding the towel around his neck, whether he had just swam or is about to swim is anyone's guess. As always when drawing him and his sister, the most trouble I have with Hadvar is drawing his damn wings, since the two of them are supposed to wyverns. And, lastly, I tried my damndest to make the background look like a typical sunny day out on Puget Sound (albeit with some clouds on the horizon) but I feel the colors, especially in the sky, are lacking. The clouds are a jumbled mess and the sky itself didn't turn out all that great since I am really lacking in sky blue pencils and keep misplacing them for some damn annoying reason.

It's definitely a good motivation for me to experiment more with watercolors, acrylics, and markers in the near-future... once I have some artistic ideas to use them, anyway. And also once I get more Sakura pens and some India ink for them (though I can always go with Uniball and Copic pens as well).
