So, I drew this right after completing the Wings of Fire book Darkstalker Legends, when I was absolutely obsessed with the friggin' thing. I drew fanart of Fathom and Indigo, two characters in the book, as they witness Fathom's grandfather Albatross murder the Seawing Queen in absolute horror. This one event was a turning point in poor Fathom's life, as Albatross was the young dragonet's mentor in the craft of mastering animus magic (a rare and potent gift among dragons in the WoF universe), and after stopping his grandfather and healing his friend Indigo from near-death, he was held in great suspicion in the Kingdom. He had to swear an oath to the newly-crowned Queen (his sister) to never use animus magic or to sire offspring to carry the animus genes, which meant he was never to see Indigo again.

It's certainly a key plot point in the book, as the events afterwords would lead to Fathom traveling to the Night Kingdom to confront Darkstalker about his careless use of animus and, ultimately, his role in sealing the Nightwing away where he couldn't possibly hurt anyone (at least, for the time being). It's also rather touching seeing Fathom's relationship with Indigo progress throughout the book, from childhood friends to mates living in peaceful solitude with their own dragonets, never having to worry about Darkstalker or animus magic again.
