...Does anybody even remember this series? >>;;
Honestly, if you've watched me within the past 3 or so years, then you probably never heard of it. Before I go any further:
...Still here? Okay. Afterlife was actually the second story I wrote after that beast of a novel that was my first (Zhaiothe's Tale; a 454 page brick that I foolishly attempted to print out and only got halfway >>;; Inkjets suuuuuuuck). Though, I've only added an act to Afterlife every two years.
<<; Last year it was 'due', and uh... Well, my mother died early on when I started writing it. And then "2020" happened, along with BLM... So I honestly did not feel comfortable posting it that year, let alone finishing it. Bit by bit, I chiseled at it, and recently actually finished what I had planned.
If I'm being truthful, I'm not sure if there will ever be a good time to post this, considering what the world is constantly revealing. (https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saskatchewan/cowessess-marieval-indian-residential-school-news-1.6078375 For example...) But perhaps I'm just looking too much into this. There's a lot of mixed messages in Afterlife's story as a whole; some of it is just showing how ugly modern humanity has become, that some people are just as horrible as the creatures that stalk the city. That the selfless are often treated poorly, the cost of kindess. How some struggle with identity, and how important it is to influence Change in the world.
...Yeah, lot of thoughts about this series, not even just this act in general. But I won't spoil anything here. If you're interested, the entire series is out. I'll try to make sure they're all in a folder/pool/whatever this site currently uses.
