The Reporter by BardaWolf

The Reporter

A reporter, tasked with investigating the recent macro sightings in Bayonne, gets a lead taking him to an abandoned house in a particularly bad part of northern Bayonne. And he's beginning to question his decision. Why would somebody with such power live in such squalid accommodation?

Trevor Lucas felt uneasy. As he pulled up a group of young lupines who'd been hanging around a home up the street were looking him over, then turned tail and left. No doubt they were gang-affiliated.
He stepped out of his car, staring at the house, then searched maps on his phone. Yep, this was it, the address he'd been given by his witness.
"This can't be it. It doesn't look like anyone's lived here in years. Hmmm. Damn." He sighed. "Better call the head office...just to be sure."
The canid walked back to his car. He felt safer there than using his expensive phone on the street.

"Yeah, I'm here now. But I don't think I have the right spot. This place looks like it should be bulldozed."
"What? Is there an overgrown field next door? Uh, yeah."
"Yeah I see the plumbing place. I'll send a picture."
He snapped a quick picture with his phone.
"I mean if that's what the witness described."

Trevor took a deep breath, getting back out of his car. If this was for real this interview could make his career. But he couldn't fight the dread that he might be walking in on a meth lab or gang hideout. He put his hand on the pistol he carried. He'd gotten the permit just for this occasion, gulped and approached the house....

Just a quick look into the type of conditions Kayko lives in. This would be fairly early on in the story line, when people are just starting to sight him in the night. Kayko has found out about his condition, curse, power, whatever you want to call it. And just has to kill time until he shrinks back down and can disappear back into obscurity.
