Vierda the Foxtaur

bara_kawamori

From 2010
Her name is Vierda, which is a play on the Spanish vierde, for green. I got the idea from a batch of grey wool that I dyed using the same pot as the first batch. This second batch of grey looked really green to me, and I thought that it had to be used for a fantasy creature. I picked a foxtaur and started working with it. As I was working with the grey-green wool though, it turned out to be not as green as I imagined it to be. So, I decided to try this green Bernat Roving yarn I had lying around, and voila! A green-ish foxtaur appeared. X3

Vierda is made with a wire armature and a combination of alpaca wool and Bernat Roving. She is also the biggest needlefelt I've done so far! The upper body (foot to eartip) is about 8 inches tall and the lower body (waist to tailtip) is about 9 inches long. Vierda is an example of what a large taur would be like if you were to commission one from me.
