Balina Dakós is an accomplished officer

Balina

Few people have ever climbed as deeply into the Korps as Civil Control Counselor Balina Dakós. Having willingly thrown aside everything that might have held herself back, she bathed her body and soul in the magenta, dissolving utterly to be reborn as something few could ever truly comprehend. It would be a comical understatement to say that she has earned a reputation among many of the rank and file, especially those who remember the darker years before more modern initiatives. For someone who prefers to remain in the shadows, her face, figure, and even her voice are unmistakable. When she does deign to make herself known, she steps out of those shadows with a swiftness and suddenness that belie her size, and too many agents have felt her soft but unstoppable pressure from behind.

She was a monster born out of a perceived necessity; a force to optimize and iron out imperfections that might be missed by a less meticulous mind. Equipment goes missing, personnel fail in their duties, and she would be there. Resources would be reallocated, problems pruned. She possessed a brutal efficiency that got the job done, whether those in her path thought themselves think they belong here or not. The Korps is an intricate machine, and there's no room for gears that think they know better than the watchmaker.

In time, the Overlord, and thus the Korps itself, came to the realization that, perhaps, it's easier to enact your will on the world when you don't have to pave over everyone and everything that doesn't fit with your vision. It certainly saves on drone plugs, that's for sure. Troubleshooting can be more complicated than simply finding trouble and shooting it, and far less wasteful. Perhaps not quite as viscerally gratifying, but one must move with the times.

And so, her part was recast. These days, she plays something more like Tetris than Duck Hunt, rearranging pieces that don't fit, finding the right combinations to make problems disappear. She has seen less than no reason to discard her old aesthetics, however. A reputation for being an inhumane monster, and the occasional reminder that the beast is still there, simply kept on a short yet fragile leash, is wonderful leverage. Don't mind the drones at her sides, and try not to fixate on how much she's looming. Definitely don't get lost thinking about how sharp those teeth are, or how hungry her eyes look behind that visor. If she wanted you dead, or worse, she wouldn't bother talking to you first, right? She's only here to help, after all.
