The Mark of Smoke
Once belonging to the Master of the pit, Barbak'oo, the Mark of Smoke was an amulet that served as his proof of station. Prophecy foretold that Barbak'oo would be summoned to burn all of creation to a cinder, replacing it in his own image. While she did not stop the ritual that brought him into this world, the Balbarian chose instead to fight the monster head-on, ending the threat he posed forever. Thus was her heroic reputation cemented, and her legacy ensured. She continued to travel the lands for years after, though no single act is as widely-known as her victory that day.

Due to its fame, the stories and songs of her battle are the most famous and diverse of all, though it is universally agreed that she fought bravely against an unstoppable foe, wearing him down over the course of hours, perhaps days, before finally emerging victorious. After the fight, she took his skull (as demon skulls always turn out to be important) and his amulet as trophies of the battle. It is believed that the gem in its center contains deep, forbidden knowledge of the secrets of the pit, though only she knows for sure.
