Balina Pervola spends most of her time combing the wilds between towns, looking for new and interesting tastes. Plants need to be gathered, identified and tasted. Trapping and hunting methods need to be tested for the region, and their meat needs to be sampled and experimented upon. Cooking times, orders of ingredients, even the composition of the fire need to be carefully measured and iterated on in order to find the correct combinations and the perfect ways to serve a given animal.
It's a long, difficult process, but if it were easy, someone less determined would have figured it out ages ago. It's also a fantastic excuse to eat just about everything she comes across.
