Temba (Zulu, "Hope") is the daughter of Musuwa/Indinda. This character has the distinction of almost retaining her original name through the half-dozen iterations of the story (in the end, Jowana was the only one who made it that far). The reason for change was that I decided, due to reasons relating to this character's motivations and actions, it would be more poignant if she was not given the name "Temba" at birth, but instead chose that name for herself later on (the theme of self-discovery/self-defining is shared by several other characters in the final iteration of the story).

Her given name at birth in the final iteration of the story is Moyana (Zulu, "Little Wind"). At the end of the story, she renames herself Nomatemba (Zulu, "Mother of Hope") - though those close to her address her simply as "Temba" as a form of endearment (and a homage to her original name - this is one of the characters I am strongly attached to).
