Mallegant reproduciton

So as I was asked it on these little guys, mallegants reproduce via pollenation of their flowers that grow during summer and autumn in preperation for the winter. The cold activates the seeds and makes the future mallegants resistant enough to the cold weather and the heat from summer provides them the warmth and energy they need to grow and emerge from their seeds.

The seeds grow within their cheeks and fall out as the mallegant walks around and opens its mouth for communication or generally lives life.

Sometimes though the seeds can become overwhelming to the mallegant if that particular season produces a lot of sunlight and gets pollinated frequently. So the mallegant spits them all out spreading them all over rich forested soil in good sunlight. A mallegant will search for such a spot upon its first season and return there to deposit its seeds.

The seeds themselves look incredibly similar to a hollyhock seed, they have the ability to move somewhat when their roots emerge from their shells. They use their roots as anchors by digging them into parts of the soil or deliberately trapping them under small pebbles and stones, they drag themselves along the ground to spread out using the mallegants special roots mounted at their hips and find a more permanent spot to sprout.

A single mallegant can produce tens of thousands of offspring per year
