Animated icon done for 1 of 3 of our test pilots:   arcturax

As you've read a few journals ago, I' ve been working on experimental icons while trying to figure out to get the most quality out of them. My current icon is only 16 frames and reduced to 8 color which isn't all the desirable.

Thanks to   electrocat...

I've learned of what I need to aim for in order to squeeze the most out of FA tight limitation. Using Blender, Gifsicle, and Gimp, I've been able to get 24 frames with 32 colors with a little to spare.

What I've learned:
1. As much as I like shiny effects, you'll get a lot more frames by setting all materials to "Shadeless". The less transition between colors, the better.
2. Let Blender render the frames at their full size. Let image magic or gifsicle do the 100x100 size reduction
3. Let Gimp do the frame delay and use 70s for any frame where delay is not specified
