Renanin are one of the Three (or Riftlings) explained away as a reaction to the disappearance of various other megafauna. They embody bits of the old world believed to be lost due human activity and the increasing industrialization of the land in my Attainder plot.
Renanin specifically are known by many names across the world from rukhs to wyverns. They are a sapient species unlike the other Riftlings but the average renanin would be considered sociopathic by human standards and they are not very social except during times of winter stupor due to necessity. That being said they love knowledge and puzzles and stories (which is what they occupy each other with during the cold season). Some are more friendly but this is rather rare-- especially towards humans seeing it was them who displaced much of their former range.
