Introducing another new addition to my growing amount of original characters :D I do actually have some anthro characters, and this chap here is one of them. Mr. Elias Alistair Finley, or just Elias if you know him, is a hybrid between a rabbit and a sheep, with the overall anatomy of a rabbit, but with the wool, horns and somewhat longer tail of a sheep. I guess I'll need to elaborate a bit on this. Elias, along with two other anthro character I have (but not yet shown you, sorry!) are from a world where hybrids are very common, as the boundaries between species aren't as fixed as here. There, it is common for the children of different-species parents to inherit most characteristics from their mother's species, and some characteristics of their father's. Likewise, if Elias would form a couple with a female of a different species, he would most likely count as rabbit, and not as a sheep. I know it's weird and makes no sense biologically, but talking, humanoid hybrids don't make any sense either, so what the hell :)

I have lots of sketches of Elias, but I wanted to show you this quick painting first, to set the mod, so to say :) The world I imagine him and the others in is similar to our Renaissance period in many ways, in terms of clothing, architecture and sciences. Many new discoveries are being made, and some objects that did not exist during the 'real' Renaissance do exist here, such as crude pocket watches. In a way, there are a few Steampunk elements present, but most of the commoners have nothing to do with that.

It is in this place that Elias has his little laboratory/workplace, where he works primarily as a medicine-maker for the local doctors, but also practices alchemy whenever he gets the chance. He's very skilled with herbs and poisons (being the child of a sheep and a rabbit, his sense of smell and knowledge concerning plants is very refined) but he's also very interested, though less skilled, in metals. Elias comes from a family of status and wealth, and can therefore spend his time researching his sciences. However, the wealth is not unlimited, and Elias knows that his family is not by far as rich as it used to be, and as everything has to be shared with his numerous siblings, the gold is running out. Fast. It is not uncommon therefore to find Elias working until late in his rooms, studying the alchemy books he has collected and experimenting, in hopes to find that one way to change base metals into real gold. So far he's only acquired a gold-coloured substance that can be used as paint, but which would not even fool a blind merchant into thinking it was real. If he gets really frustrated he ends up throwing bottles of failed gold-making experiments through the room, which he always regrets later. He also does this to people who disturb him and when people he hates come into his house uninvited.

As mentioned, Elias is a clever guy, the brightest of the family. Most of his brothers inherited their father's hot-headedness (he is a ram, after all) and enlisted in the army or got other physical employment. Elias however is much calmer, and also, though he hates to admit it, he's a real coward, so instead of these 'dangerous' jobs, he turned his attention to the sciences, to research and lab-work. Elias has somewhat droopy eyelids (I believe it's called 'hooded eyes', right?) and big rabbit feet (with no paw pads! Neither on his hands nor feet!). His ears are often worn pointing backwards, but he uses them a lot to show emotions and put emphasis on his words. His nose is slightly aquiline and more sheep than rabbit like, and his horns are relatively short. The wool covers most parts of his body, with the face, ears, hands and feet free of wool. The wool on his belly and inner arms is shorter and softer than the wool on his back. Like any sheep, Elias needs to be shaved in summer in order to prevent overheating in the warm summer days. His least favourite day of the year. He's not particularly tall or strong, but he is surprisingly quick both as a runner and a thinker. Elias' patience is great, but there is always that moment when he's had it and the bomb drops. If it gets that far, it's best to just leave him be before he starts throwing bottles of distilled water or other bottles liquids at you. Fun fact: Elias deals very badly with alcohol. Don't let him drink the stuff, unless the wine is very diluted. He gets drunk very easily and gets the worst hangovers.
