Is it cut out? If so that is the problem, without a background where you put in a shadow, it loses the 3d illusion.

Yes, it was cut out, and unfortunately I didn't have the materials to fasten it to the wall. I think I have found a solution to that since then though.

If you do this sort of thing again, you may want to include the shadow in the cutout part. Since the shadow really is what sells the illusion. :)

WOW! The only thing that keeps this from being a perfect illusion is the lack of shadow on the wall! (I see a little shadow of the fur) but more on one edge and the bottom maybe would have sold the illusion.
