Ringwyrm Armor by athousandrasps

Ringwyrm Armor

athousandrasps

Here’s the ringwyrm armor, finally wearable. This leather cuirass+skirt took about 40 hours to make (not including the time to draw the designs). The knots are all of my own design and are supposed to be reminiscent of Urnes-era Viking knotwork. There's an Aegishjalmur in the center of the chest. The armor design is not period accurate for Viking-era Scandinavia though, but oh well! :P The armor is mostly grey/brown and black, but the dragon fire/tongues are yellowish and the rings and triquetras are painted bronze.

It is constructed from veg-tan cow leather in varying weights (8-12+ oz--the top chest part is almost half an inch thick) and has an articulated construction. The four main panels that make up the front of the breastplate are attached by strips of leather on the inside so they're connected, but they have a lot of room to wiggle, flop, and slide. (The back has the same construction.) This gives the wearer a pretty wide range of motion, though I should have given them more room to overlap. :(

This armor has a home with the excellent Isane: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/isane/

Wow, thats cool. I've never seen anyone do this before (at least in the furry community, you know.) and it's pretty neat!

Thanks! I know of plenty of other armorers, but yeah, not so many in the furry sphere. I'd love to make more stuff for peoples' suits. Fursuits + armor = the win!

That would be a really neat thing to see. Suits with handmade things are always soooooo great.
