FBA 2013 Draft Candidate - Kilimasi Fu'afu'a

asterionblazing

Biography:
"Kilisimasi Fu’afu’a the Huon tree kangaroo is a center from Avian University of Hawaii at Manoa, originally from the distant sandy shores of American Samoa. His first name means ‘Christmas’ in the local tongue and reflects his December 25 birthday.

An only child, Kilisimasi was forbidden by his protective mother from rough games like football and wrestling, though these sports were popular among his mammalian peers. When Kilisimasi’s rambunctious nature still refused to be contained, she signed her precious joey up for basketball, which in Samoa was mainly played by avians. Mrs. Fu’afu’a reasoned that if fragile hollow-boned avians could play it then it should be safe enough for Kilisimasi.

His mother’s prohibition led to a certain amount of teasing from his mammalian peers, but if it bothered Kilisimasi he never let it show. It certainly helped that he was a natural on the hardwood, his height and powerful macropod jump making up for his lack of wings against his high-flapping companions.

He earned an athletic scholarship to Avian University of Hawaii at Manoa. As a mammal, he was once again in the minority on the team but he was used to that by now, and had no problems adjusting. His feathered and scaled teammates called him ‘Hulu,’ the Hawaiian word for fur. They came to rely on their easy-going and ebullient center, though his preternatural fondness for hugging caused some ruffled feathers, figuratively and literally.

Kilisimasi enjoys fresh fruit, canoeing, and American comedy movies. His paternal uncle taught Kilisimasi traditional Samoan dances including fire knife dancing, despite his mother’s protestations of the danger."
