Gourd Sculpted Turkey Vulture by Art-fromthe-Heart

Gourd Sculpted Turkey Vulture

Art-fromthe-Heart

An experiment and trade with DancingVulture, here's a gourd sculpted turkey vulture! It's made of a bottle gourd that's the body and neck, and two thick gourd cuts make the wings. The wings have been carved down, then sculpted onto to try a layering technique. Clay for the lower side of the wings, and cardboard for the upper. Paperclay and Epoxy clay sculpted the rest of the features. I used metallic bronze paint for a shiny, sunbathed look. :)

This guy is my first bird of prey and first realistic gourd bird. He was so much fun to make! I'll be making more detailed birds in the future (I'll be painting for a while though). Dimensions on image.

Amazing! I should say I hate you, you paint SO well and you also sculpt so well...not fair! The wings look very good!

That is a motto I have used most of my life and I have been painting and drawing most of my 58 years...still no match for you.
