Some Buteos are known to be able to exhibit unnatural powers. Exhibiting these "psionics" is extremely rare, and even rarer is it to find someone who can do so on a good level. The only good way of testing for them is putting the subject in a sensory deprivation tank for a prolonged period and seeing what happens.

All AGATE students are required to spend at least a week in a Sensedep pod during their schooling.
