SUBJECT: A New Beginning for Mankind

I have managed to get things back in order here at our new destination. Needless to say, our attempt at getting to this new world has been a surprising success. Considering the factors, I would have anticipated us either ripped to shreds or stuck out in the middle of outer space. Nonetheless, here we are, and I have to say...this planet is magnificent. I believe lady luck was on our side as the conditions for coming to a near-Earth replica couldn't have been more favorable. Granted, this place does have its own nuances. Getting used to seeing two suns and not a single moon is one thing. The skies here seem to lean a tad more towards the red end of the spectrum which gives it a subtle violet color over the blue tones one is used to on a fair day.

As far as life here goes, there is the expected planet and animal life for a class planet of this type. There are rather interesting species to behold. Some of them are even slightly familiar to what is seen back on Earth. Though, despite the existence of organics, we have not found any that are of high intelligence, as least as far as we can tell or have found. There are a good variety of microbes here we acquired to examine for threat to our bodies and made vaccines of them accordingly. It's one thing to have managed to get away from a heated war. The last thing we need is to die from a near invisble enemy at this new haven.

There have been a couple accidents here and there, but nothing of critical concern, so we have been doing well these past few months. Though, speaking of which, we've been trying to determine the cycles of day time here and it seems to take 25.8 hours for 1 planetary rotation. Judging from what we could, we also estimate a year for this planet is about 1.12 of our years. So, all in all, it's a bit longer than we're used to, but nothing staggering. Gravity here is about five percent stronger than Earth's. We noticed it when we got here. Though, at the time, most of us dismissed it as perhaps fatigue from the teleportation. It's something we've needed to get used to and no doubt we've grown a bit in muscle mass over time to compensate for it. Air quality is really good and quite similar to Earth. Though, given the pristine nature of this planet, that's no surprise it would be superior and I've felt better overall during my time here.

It...feels so strange being this far from home. It's one thing to be somewhere else on Earth...but to be this far away? I must say, I am a mix of home sick, worried, scared, and excited. It's just very hard to describe, but this is bigger than anything I could ever imagine. We are making history and we'll be its champions, I think.

I ahh...think I should get back to rebuilding the personel database. My friend "Arctic-Cat", or AC for short as it's come to be, has been showing more...curious signs of changes since we've been here. There is something special about each of us. But, I'm convinced this fellow in particular is so much more than we'll ever be. I'm curious to see what this means for him...and for us...
