I tend to feel as if I'm in an unwinnable competition with better artists though
so to ask someone how they work feels embarrassing and small
which is completely stupid but I have an extreme inferiority complex

The're something so tender and honest about this picture and the painting technique really brings that feeling to the front.

I also wonder how artists do it, and am putting off uploading my experiments trying to paint.
But you can do what I do, and ask them. I got a lot of really good feedback just asking people I admire how they went about doing their art.
