I'm done oh my gosh I made itttttt!! THE LINES TOOK LIKE 3000 YEARS TO DO OMG SO MUCH TO LINE XD This is my entry for the MYO Elnin Eventtttt
The colours ended up even better than I imagined I'm so happy ;v; His mane shouldn't be quite so floofy but I wanted to draw it so you can see its length~ On the shaded version the red on his cheek is just a blush; it's not a marking or anything!

Profession: Xiaoxing is a scholar and archaeologist. When not braving the Overwilds to explore new ruins he hasn't seen before he is home in his study or at a quiet corner of the library. Nothing bums him out more than sickness from miasma that prevents him from going on trips. When not out exploring ruins first-hand, he is recording his findings in writing. He has written many history books/articles and is quite well known for his knowledge on lesser studied/remote areas where others dare not go. Other scholars often have him do translations for them because he is relatively skilled with the most common archaic language. His main source of income is sales of his writing and working as a translator.

Other:

• hobbies include: stargazing, singing [when alone], calligraphy, making sweets, and collecting artifacts and star related items --- has a ridiculous hoard of books that's practically a small library and another hoard of star related items
• has a special interest in stars and often studies ruins having to do with astrology
• some people think his field is boring but he absolutely loves it and wouldn't exchange it for anything else
• the many belts on his tail let him carry a lot of smaller items he might need on trips by attaching them similarly to his star bottle
• sometimes he takes home small artifacts as souvenirs as well as to study them closer
• finds the sound of bells calming so he has one hanging from each ear and another on his tail
• actually has a very nice singing voice but he's too shy to sing in front of others so only his Pomu familiar gets to hear him sing --- often makes use of his bells when singing which is more like a purring hum since his voice is limited --- sings most often while in ruins since he knows he's alone; next most often place would be at home
• the red tassel the bell on his tail is tied to the belt with is for good luck --- he is just a tiny bit superstitious which is also why his Pomu also has a red rope with a piece of jade --- he often has lucky talismans/paper charms hidden in pockets of his cape that he has bought
• while somewhat superstitious, he is not easily startled/scared and actually very brave
• much higher tolerance for hot than cold; his cape is warmer than it looks
• his eyes are especially sensitive to light which makes him very good at exploring dark ruins with only the glowing stars in the bottle on his tail for light --- as a result though he has a very low sunlight tolerance and needs his goggles when in strong light
• has a good tolerance for miasma but gets sick regularly due to pushing his limits while on excursions
• he isn't very socialable and doesn't like meeting new people/creatures; when he does he is very awkward and often stumbles and stutters --- he is never rude even if he doesn't like socializing he treats everyone with a high amount of respect
• if approached quietly and calmly one-on-one he is more likely to be his normal self
• he is very sweet to the few he allows himself to get close to
• not picky with food but he likes to eat his own homemade foods the best --- he is quite good with cooking and can make a variety of foods
• his Pomu often helps him carry/hand him things both while he is working on writing as well as while out at ruins and even cooking as well
• he does most of his own writing by holding pens/brushes with his mouth or with a special brace that lets him hold a writing utensil but sometimes his Pomu acts as his scribe as well especially when he is in a rush to write quickly --- he actually relies quite a lot on Pomu storage since his Pomu is actually quite gentle with things and organized much like himself
• he lives with a young lady who grows decorative flowers as well as herbs for a living; she is the only humanoid he is relaxed around
• he provides her company since she lives alone and he does what he can along with his Pomu to help around the house when he's home
• in return she gives him a quiet home to live in and she takes care of him when he's sick due to yet another excursion and too much miasma exposure

Notes:- his horns/eyes [and also the stones in the guards on his legs] are a rich amber colour

• his mane isn't usually so poofy at the back; it's only drawn this way to show length
• red mark on his cheek on the shaded version is just a blush; not a marking
• underside of his cape has a star chart pattern
• always has bell earrings and belts [w/ star bottle + bell] on as well as his goggles
• guards on his legs are only for when travelling, cape is worn while travelling and when it's cold
