By the time Nessus had gone into labor, the doctors had realized that the baby was losing oxygen. They nearly lost her due to the umbilical cord being caught around her neck at the time. On top of that she is also a preemie baby, meaning she was born before her due date. So what should have been a normal birth was turned quickly into a c-section to save their daughter's life. She made it, but just barely. When she was pulled free of Nessus' body, she wasn't crying or breathing. It took about three hours before Marcel & Nessus were allowed to see her and hold her briefly. Marcel is crying because he's relieved that they didn't lose their baby girl. He knew it'd be devastating for Nessus so he's relieved. Nessus is comforting him, knowing how hard it was for his fiance just as much as it was for him. Their daughter, Maris or Mari, takes after Marcel look wise but she'll be more like Nessus as she grows up.
