Buddy 3D Turnaround

Turnaround of my character Buddy.
I wanted to 3D model again. I retained some Blender knowledge from summers previous. I wasn't expecting this to go over well at all but it turned out quite okay.

Model wise he is about 25k tris. I think that is similar to a PS3 character though that can vary greatly by context and what game.
The UV kinda sucks, some parts a bit blurry on inspection. Texture itself is 4096x4096. I have two alternate textures I can swap out, one with a yellow check shirt and the blue hoodie you see here. The hoodie is actually a shape key...
Speaking of shape keys- he has multiple different facial morphs. A few for his eyebrows, a few different mouth shapes and to open and close his mouth, aswell as some misc. shapes such as controlling his pupil size or even making his teeth poke out. He has 65 bones, controlling his body of course- aswell as his ears and eyes. He has another eye modeled under his hair, though the textures are incomplete and it does not have any way to control its position on the rig since it is not intended to be seen anyway.
If you couldn't already tell by looking at the model he has an outline effect (I love). It was done using a soldifiy modifier and a black material. It turned out quite nice I think though quite annoying to get right and sometimes looks weird at certain angles.
His hair was not as difficult as I imagined (I had never done 'stylized' hair like his before and bezier curves are not my friend)
The weight painting is... not the best. It was a first pass done automatically I thought was "good enough" but... honestly it looks quite crumby. His ears and tail especially cause some weird morphing I didn't bother fixing. I guess I will eventually though.

On the outline part though, it was what inspired me to make this entire model. I was inspired by Cartoon Network's Fusionfall (if anyone remembers that.) Or really any game with cel shaded graphics- ie Jet Set Radio/Okami/Cel Damage/idk whatever fits here. It fits my style best as opposed to realism which is... well I tried it once it looked on par with a 2002 film. Wanted to make something like this ages ago but my art was terrible and I had clue where to start with modeling. That and my laptop I used for everything that was already about 5 years old 9 years ago- so it was awful at just every task and I don't know how I used it for so long.

One of these I wanna mod him into something but that requires learning like, 8 different other programs ontop of modeling, UV mapping, texturing, rigging, and rendering, already in Blender, so... I'll put that on the "some other day" list.

This took 1 hour to render in Cycles (Blender 2.79) I am doing something wrong.
