I had a TON of fun working on this =D
This is hands down, my FAVORITE paper burning for several reasons:
1. Its a complete original from start to finish =D
2. Its a fox =P
3. An experiment gone RIGHT!
4. I just love it <3
Started out as a pencil sketch prompted by a friend...during a really bad storm...while house sitting at my parents.
I like it so much that I knew I either had to wood burn it, or paper burn it.
I chose paper =D
So I went ahead and burnt the sunflowers, leaves, and the dark shadows around the lovely vixen (which is probably my first furry without human hair!!).
Then I tea stained the background.
After it was dry I had trouble deciding how I wanted to color the fox....first idea was to paint her with tea but it just wasn't the right shade I had in mind and...I have never done that before =P So I opted to use watercolor pencils.
After applying and smoothing all the pencil, I decided to go back and detail her outline with the burner instead of the black pen I like to use for my watercolor pieces out of fear it would be too bold and stand out too much from the rest of the image. This was a good call =D
Unfortunately/Fortunately, I got a little carried away with some of the detailing and did too much texturing of the fur on her forehead which meant I had to do her entire body XD
But as I said, FORTUNATELY, that was a good mistake because after adding the fur everywhere it really helped enhance the different tones and give that extra texture that I would have had to do with the wood burning anyway =P
Size is 9X12 on watercolor paper.

Very awesome handling of the fur and soft colors! :3
