Pet Portrait Commission: Xena by Aliehs Slade

Pet Portrait Commission: Xena

Aliehs Slade

2013

Part two of my commission for a very sweet lady at the carving club I belong to. She gave me 5 pictures of her daughters rescue animals to burn for her. This is Xena =)

**Meant to mention this!
This burning was done on Pine and in my experience it is not the best to work with. Most pine pieces have such a stubborn grain, and the moment you touch it with the burner it seeps sap. It smells wonderful! But it makes it very difficult to keep even tones when shading. I would normally avoid this type of wood but the commissioner supplied it to me for free without this knowledge. I did not want her to feel like she had wasted her money but did explain to her the dilemma we might face. Luckily, she seemed to pick some decent pieces =) Little grain, but still....a challenge XD
