Thank you <3 This piece means quite a lot to me.
But now I get to tell on myself XD
The background/border effect is a digital effect I applied to dress this sketch up to give it a more finished look. So...I can't take the credit for it...but the good news is I am slowly working towards no longer needing to stoop to these methods to achieve the looks I want =)

I really like this piece and I can see why you'd want to use it as an avatar. Very emotional, love the details around the boarder, and beautiful. Excellent work and I'd love to see more work like this from you in the future!
