Another year behind us, another Summary of Art!! This was the YEAR OF BANANA BOY LOL
This year was a mixed bag. On the downsides, I had a LOT of stress factors in 2022, most financial. Multiple big expenses one right after the other hit mid-summer (car maintenance and vet bills mostly). This meant I had to essentially stop doing all comic work in order to do commissions to supplement my income, so TS took a huge hit. My day job also took up all of my time or mental energy; this was the first time I ever wanted to drop everything and quit with how absolutely chaotically stupid it was. Since July everything I've drawn has been either owed art or a stress-relief doodle with only a couple exceptions. It sucked, honestly, and I hope things never get this bad again.
On the plus side, I don't feel my art dipped in quality much at all despite the setbacks. There were a few I considered "oofs" but I'll take that. When I see all the art in the summary, it really makes me feel confident I'm still progressing!
The other big plus to this year, is it was the "Year of Meeting Friends IRL". We had a couple friends come down to visit at different times of the year, we went to a wedding and met several there, and met even MORE at MFF! Not to mention hanging with other previously-met friends at the latter, and man it was the BEST. What a fantastic year for social stuff! And we were all as safe as we could be given COVID shenanigans (When I DID catch Covid it was, unsurprisingly, from an outbreak at my day job. BOO!). I don't regret any of it, and I feel very blessed and loved and I hope all my friends feel the same. I think this year really showed me that I'm finally in a really good place with my friend groups. I've been in some doozies before, and I think at long freakin' LAST I'm with folks who are caring and wonderful and they help me to continue to strive to be a better person.
