The raccoon, KeVy (for K-V) is our scout district's mascot. He has appeared on several event patches, t-shirts, and even a travel mug. This particular camporee was held at AdventureBound up in Caratunk, Maine. As they specialize in whitewater rafting for youth groups, it only made sense to have our mascot try his paw at it. Their paddles are red & yellow just like the one KeVy is holding. Many of their lifejackets are yellow with black strapping making you look sort of like a bumble bee when you wear one. At the end of the event, all those who attended got to sign one of the paddles and it got mounted in AB's central lodge.

And, yes, Scouting has become a lot more complicated these days. While I haven't found the raccoon canoing badge yet, there is one for "adult beverages". Back in January, I awarded Novar with the Cat Herding Merit Badge.
