Pegasus by Akysi

And last but not least of the zodiac companions, Pegasus! A companion to Capricorn, and she turned out to be one of the harder concepts to adapt for this series. As far as mythology goes, Pegasus has been inserted into variations of many different stories involving several Greek heroes, usually as said hero’s steed, so I wasn’t sure at first what angle to take with my version of the character.

With the idea of multiple stories in mind, I liked the idea of her being a playwright or poet, as if she created some of those stories herself. And pairing her with Capricorn and his air of sophistication, this seemed like a good fit. She’s one of the players in Capricorn’s theatre, though only after some encouragement from him to overcome her stage fright and realize her potential in this field.

I definitely needed to brush up on horse anatomy for this one, and I’m glad I did! I wanted to redeem myself after Centaurus (and the legs have the proper number of joints this time, aha). I did cheat a liiiittle bit in order to achieve proper balancing with her bipedal stance, but I wanted it to at least seem plausible when compared to her quadrupedal one, along with matching the proportions. Overall I think it was successful! It’s nice to have all of the companions designed now too, though I’m sure some tweaking will happen in the future anyway. :)

The constellation symbol for Pegasus was originally designed by Denis Moskowitz and released to the public domain. https://www.suberic.net/~dmm/astro/constellations_t.html
