As his skin was overtaken by these scales, his legs dissolved, forming a tail that suited swimming, or some kind of fairytale. Fins- for that’s what they actually were— sprouted along the new tail, and a powerful one grew from his spine.
As those scales reached his head, his ears melded into small holes, and his face was sculpted and pushed outward. His nose and mouth melted into a small muzzle filled with sharp teeth. That’s when he noticed it, something on his neck was burning, and he was having trouble breathing. Gills had opened in his neck, and they were burning for water.
Water.
He needed water, now. He hardly thought about it, and crawled towards the ocean. As soon as the tide came in, he threw himself headlong into the undertow.
