The furry fandom has drawn the curiosity and confusion of outsiders for years. A decade ago, furries had to remain quiet about their hobby lest they face ridicule and harassment, but the fandom has started to slide into the mainstream. More recently, corporations have started to take notice in this untapped market, with furries featuring in clothing advertisements and furry conventions being sponsored by big-name brands. Our community tends to fall over itself with excitement whenever furries are featured positively in the media, but do we really need all that attention from society? And how can we keep our community safe from exploitation and censorship?
