Bewilderbeast

Abbi Normal

I am literally unable to say how long this took. It took FOREVER. So long. But here it is. It's the best I could make it. Aside from how long I spent on it, there's not much else to say about it. I got the idea listening to Skyclad, who have an album called "Bewilderbeast", and I really liked the name, and I was thinking, what would a bewilderbeast look like" and a thousand years later, here it is.

About six inches tall and weighing almost nothing, the bewilderbeast is the magical cousin of the common house hippo. It's found mostly in rooms people sleep in, particularly children and artists. While they prefer to keep to themselves, the bewilderbeast is a skilled conversationalist, and if you catch one when he has a spare moment, they're polite, funny, and interesting to talk to. They feed by absorbing the energy produced as the by-product of dreaming and creative thinking. Bewilderbeasts often take "second jobs" as imaginary friends or muses, forming a symbiotic relationship with the host. While they need relatively little sleep themselves, bewilderbeasts do sleep, and they prefer to do so between the pages of books, or inside tubes of paint, or simply underneath your pillow.
