Finally, I gave in and called this complete. The photo is perhaps not the greatest, I took it in great haste as we ran off to take it to my dad for Easter. This was a request for my father (sort of a commission, he paid for me to go to the UK back in November!) This is supposed to be the Celtic Warrior Queen Boadicea, or otherwise known as Boudica. Her story is very interesting and tragic.
Boadicea was queen of the Iceni tribe, a Celtic tribe who led an uprising against the occupying forces of the Roman Empire around AD 60 - 61. I encourage you to read more about it... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boudica

Oh, I think I missed this! I'm really happy to see you having a look at this time period, it's very interesting to say the least. I am a bit of a history geek though. xD

I remember you commenting on the teaser image I posted months ago. You said I should look up 'La Tene' and indeed it was very helpful! I too have a love of old world culture, and well - all cultures so different than our own! I am especially fond of Celtic history however, as I am Scottish born and bred ;) Thank you!

Hehe, that's good! I prefer Celtic culture before Christianity, as a general rule of thumb. Yes, I'm with you there about the old world cultures - I love mixing them up in my writing. I'm half Scottish - Ross clan on my mum's side. The other side is English, so I do like that side of history too - particularly Anglo-Saxon, as they have some of the earliest bits of English literature. xD

I have to agree with you. Ahh I'm not sure how that works out for me but my mother's side is Clan Ogilvy(which I've heard more about) and my dad's side was Anderson/Gunn I believe (but I think his father also had English in him). My mum has been delving into our family history and trying to piece together a family tree - I would really like to look into it some time and figure it all out!

Delightful work! I like how you took your time to create a setting that simply immerses you in the timeline, and setting of the ancient Britons.
I would like to consider that a respectable amount of historical studying was done before attempting this work of art, right? I can feel a nice glimpse of authenticity.

Thank you for your kind words! Indeed, I read many accounts and watched several 'reenactment' movies of Boadicea and the time period. My father is something of a history buff, especially when it comes to the Celts and Gaels. We immigrated to Canada from Scotland when I was a toddler, so I have always had a bit of immersion into Celtic stories and artwork :)
