It's said that among the Aboriginal people of Australia, on cold nights they would keep warm by digging a hole and curling up in it with a semi-tamed dingo. On colder nights, this would increase to two dogs, and the most bitter-freezing temperatures were called "three-dog nights." Hence the name of the band.
If there is a lack of dingoes in your vicinity, fat wolves make a pleasant alternative.
